Sending Through Files

Blueprint Concepts has some of the latest technology used for designing signs and manufacturing signs. Our computers are constantly updated with the latest software to ensure the manufacturing of signage is done with more precision and ease.
Our in-house designers are constantly making sure that the files that clients send us are ready for production, taking extra care with small details including finishes, sizes, fittings and colours.
To assist us in production there are some things you can help us with. These include:

Choosing a PMS Colour.

PMS colours are Pantone Matching System colours which are colours that are precisely printed to the exact colour, which are the exact same all over the world. We have uploaded a Pantone Matching System to our website which you can view here, which will give you an indication of the colours, although will not be exactly the same colour as every monitor will be slightly different.
When sending through files, if the file is set up with PMS colours, it will make the pre-production process between us and the client a lot quicker.

Should you wish us to match to something already in print form, you are welcome to provide us with a sample to match to.

Sending the right file types / Uploading your files

Our designers use different programs including the Adobe Suite CS2 – Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign, and CorelDraw X3.
If your file is too big to be emailed, we do have an online storage space where large files can be uploaded with ease.
The best file type for us is an EPS file (logos) or PDF file. With all fonts and shapes outlined.

For best results using images and scanned pictures, a resolution at a minimum of 150dpi at 100% is best.

Outlining Files

Outlining files in Illustrator:
To convert brush strokes to outlines
You can convert brush strokes into outlined paths in order to edit the individual components of a brushed line.
1. Select a brushed line.
2. Choose Object > Expand Appearance.
To convert type to outlines
Converting type to outlines creates a compound path that you can modify.
1. Select the type object.
2. Choose Type > Create Outlines.

Outlining Files in Photoshop:
To convert type to shapes
When you convert type to shapes, the type layer is replaced by a layer with a vector mask. You can edit the vector mask and apply styles to the layer; however, you cannot edit characters in the layer as text.
1. Select a type layer
2. Choose Layer > Type > Convert To Shape.
Note: You cannot create shapes from fonts that don't include outline data (such as bitmap fonts).

Outlining Files in CorelDraw:
1. Select a type layer/object
2. ChooseArrange > Convert to Curves (Ctrl Q)
