Laing O'Rourke - Chatswood Transport Interchange

Blueprint Concepts were engaged by Cox Richardson & Laing O’Rourke in regards to a solution to the chatswood transport interchange signage. The project challenge the client was facing was that the signs needed to be printed, were being placed outdoors, needed to be graffiti resistant and also needed to last a minimum of 5 years.

After careful consideration and inspection of the artwork, Blueprint Concepts decided that the best solution was photo anodising, along with engraving and paint filling.
Photo anodising is an anodising process whereby the image/photo is placed underneath the surface of the aluminium so that the image or photo cannot be wiped off the face. By providing this kind of aluminium plaque, it provides UV resistance & a guarantee for a minimum of 5 years. It also allows you to use some harsh chemicals to clean the surface from paint and other substances.

Photo Anodising

Blueprint Concepts installed 4 photo anodised plaques around the Chatswood Transport interchange, along with a stainless steel clad plinth that stands proudly near the bus terminal. Standing approximately 2m high, it has an internal steel frame, with 2 sheets of brushed stainless steel bent around the frame to join in the centre.
